The first equation is 47x + 3y = 18, let (A)

The second one is 3x +47y = 60, let (B)

If we (A)+(B):

47x+3x+47y+3y=78

50x+50y=78

If we divide by 50:

\frac{50x+50y}{50} =\frac{78}{50}

x+y=\frac{39}{25}

And hence the answer is 39/25.
