The ratio of a to b is 2 : 1

Step 1: Given data

4a = 8b

Step 2: To find

The ratio of a and b.

Step 3: Finding solution

Ratio: Ratio means how many times a number contains another. Ratio must always in the simplest form only. For example Arun has 6 glass and Bala has 8 glass, the ratio is 6 : 8. It is denoted as simplest form as 3 : 4.

Now we have to find the ratio of a and b.

4 a = 8 b

\frac{a}{b} = \frac{8}{4}

\frac{a}{b} = \frac{2}{1}

Hence a = 2, and b= 1.

Then the ratio of a to b is 2 : 1.
