if 4th term of an ap is 14and 12th term is 70 what is the first term

solution.

here , a4= 14 & a12= 70

=> a+ 3d= 14.....(1)
=> a+ 11d= 70

subtracting it, we will get.
=> - 8d= -56

=> d= 7

now, putting the value of d in 1. we get.

=> a + 3(7) = 14

=> a= -7
