if 4x²+ y² equal to 40 and xy is equal to 6 find the value of 2x+y

Using identity (a + b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

(2x + y)^2 = (4x^2 + y^2) + (4xy)

by substituting the given values we get,

(2x + y)^2 = 40 + 4*6

(2x + y)^2 = 64

2x + y = 8
