Hi ,

Let the number = x

5/7 of a number = 5x / 7

5x / 7 exceeded by 65 = 80

5x / 7 + 65 = 80

5x / 7 = 80 - 65

5x / 7 = 15

x = 15 × ( 7 / 5 )

x = 3 × 7

x = 21

Therefore ,

Required number = x = 21

I hope this helps you.

The value of the number

\large {\underline{\sf{ Explanation:- }}}

Let the number be x.

5/7 \:  \bf{th \:  of \:  the  \: number} = \frac {5}{7} \times x

According to the question,

The 5/7th of the number gives 80 when added with the number 65. Hence, the term will be:

\begin{gathered}\frac {5}{7} \times x+65=80\\\\\frac {5}{7} \times x= 80-65=15\\\\x= \frac {105}{5} =21\\\\x=21\end{gathered}

Hence, the value of the number which exceeds 5/7th of the number by 65 is 21.
