let the unknown number be x
a/q  5/7 *x +65=80
      = 5/7*x= 80-65
      =   5x=  15 *7
        = x =  105/5
        ∴ x= 21
so the required number is 21.

Answer:

The value of the number which exceeds 5/7th of the number by 65 is 21.

To find:

The value of the number

Solution:

Let the number be x.

5/7th of the number = \frac {5}{7} \times x.

According to the question,

The 5/7th of the number gives 80 when added with the number 65. Hence, the term will be

\frac {5}{7} \times x+65=80\\\\\frac {5}{7} \times x= 80-65=15\\\\x= \frac {105}{5} =21\\\\x=21

Hence, the value of the number which exceeds 5/7th of the number by 65 is 21.
