p(x) = x3 - 4x2 + kx - 8

p(5) = (5)^3 - 4(5)^2 + k(5) - 8

0 = 125 - 100 + 5k - 8

0 = 25 - 8 + 5k

- 17 /5 = k

Therefore, k = -17/5
