keeping -5 as value of x and solving, we get ,

p=7,

putting p=7 in equation p (x^2+x)+k, we get,7x^2+7x+k

as the equation has equal roots,

b^2-4ac=0

here,

7^2-(4×7×k)=0

49-28k=0

-28k=-49

k=-49/-28

so,

k=7/4
