if -5 is a root of the quadratic equation 2x²+px-15=0 and the quadratic equation p(x²+x)+k=0 has equal roots, find the value of k.

Answer:

P(x) = x2 + px - 5 = 0

P(- 5) = 0

(- 5 )2 + p (- 5 ) - 5= 0

16 - 5p - 5 = 0

- 5p = - 12

# p = 4 #

P(x2) = x2 + px + k = 0

Substituting value of p and x :-

(- 5)2 + 3(- 5) + k = 0

16 - 12 + k = 0

5 + k = 0

## K = - 5 ##
