Here 5 men=10 boys
1 men= 2 boys
If 10 boys can do it in 5 days,
No. of boys is inversely proportional to the no. of days.
4 men and 17 boys, 4×2+17 boys= 25 boys
((10 x 5)/25) = 2 Days
Answer is 2 days!

The number of days taken by 4 men and 10 boys to complete the work is 2 days.

GIVEN

Number of days taken by 5 men = 5 days

A number of days taken by 10 boys = 5 days.

TO FIND

The number of days taken by 4 men and 17 boys to complete the work.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows -

Let the total magnitude of the work be, W.

Let The working rate of 1 boy = R

So, the working rate of 1 man = 2R.

So,

Work = Days × working rate

5 × 2R × 5 = W. (equation 1)

Let x be the number of days taken by 4 men and 17 boys to complete the work.

So,

(4× 2R + 17×R)x = W

(8R + 17R)x = W (equation 2)

Since the magnitude of work is the same,

So,

5 × 2R × 5 = (8R + 17R)x

5 × 2R × 5 = 25Rx

We can also write it as-

5×2R×5 = (5×5)Rx

Solving for x,

x = 5×2R × 5 /5×5 × R

x = 2 days.

Hence, The number of days taken by 4 men and 10 boys to complete the work is 2 days.
