Answer:

50% of (x - y) = 30% of (x +y)

5(x - y) = 3(x+y)

2x = 8y

x = 4y

(y/x)*100% = (y /4y)*100% = 25%

GivEn:

  • 50% of ( x - y ) = 30% of ( x + y )

To finD:

  • What percent of x is y

Solution:

Given, 50% of ( x - y ) = 30% of (x + y )

=> \small{\bf{ \frac{50}{100} \times (x - y) =  \frac{30}{100}  \times  (x + y)}}

=> \small{\bf{\frac{1}{2} \times  (x - y) =   \frac{3(x + y)}{10}}}

=> \small{\bf{\frac{x - y}{2} =  \frac{3( x+y) }{10} }}

=> \small{\bf{x - y \:  =  \frac{3(x+y) \times 2}{10} }}

=> \small{\bf{ x - y = \frac{3(x + y)}{5} }}

=> \small{\bf{ 5(x - y) = 3(x + y)}}

=> \small{\bf{ 5x - 5y \:  = 3x + 3y}}

=> \small{\bf{ 5x - 3x = 3y + 5y}}

=> \small{\bf{ 2x  = 8y}}

=> \small{\bf{  \frac{x}{y}  =  \frac{8}{2} }}

=> \small{\bf{ \frac{x}{y} = 4}}

=> \small{\bf{ y =\: \frac{1}{4}x}}

=> \small{\boxed{\purple{\bf{y=\: \frac{1}{4}x }}}}

Now,

\small{\bf{ y =\: \frac{1}{4}×100×x}}

=> \small{\boxed{\bf{\pink{y\: = \: 25 \: percent\: of \: x }}}}
