(1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M

(1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M (2) Molarity of 2Na⁺ = 2M

(1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M (2) Molarity of 2Na⁺ = 2M (3) Molarity of CO₃²⁻ = 1M

GIVEN

Mass of Na₂CO₃ = 53 grams

Volume of solution = 500 ml

TO FIND

Molarity of Na₂CO₃, 2Na⁺, and 3CO₃²-

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that,

Molarity = Moles of solute/Volume of solution in litres.

Moles of Na₂CO₃ = Given mass/molecular mass

= 53/106

= 0.5 moles

Volume of solution = 500 ml = 0.5l

Putting the values in the above equation we get;

Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 0.5/0.5 = 1 M

Dissociation of Na₂CO₃ ⇋ 2Na⁺ + CO₃²⁻

Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = molarity of CO₃²⁻ = 1 M

Molarity of 2Na⁺ = 2 × 1M = 2M

Hence,

Hence, (1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M

Hence, (1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M (2) Molarity of 2Na⁺ = 2M

Hence, (1) Molarity of Na₂CO₃ = 1 M (2) Molarity of 2Na⁺ = 2M (3) Molarity of CO₃²⁻ = 1M
