Given :- if 54 persons can complete 3/8 th part of a task in 36 days then how many more persons are required to complete 2/3rd part of the same task in 48 days. ?

Solution :-

given that,

  • M1 = 54 persons.
  • D1 = 36 days.
  • W1 = (3/8) part of a task .
  • M2 = Let x .
  • D2 = 48 days.
  • W2 = (2/3) part of same task.

we know that, If M1 men can do W1 work in D1 days and M2 men can do W2 work in D2 days , then

  • (M1 * D1) / W1 = (M2 * D2) / W2
  • work ∝ 1/days.

Putting all values we get,

→ (54 * 36) / (3/8) = (x * 48) / (2/3)

→ 54 * 36 * (2/3) = 48x * (3/8)

→ 54 * 12 * 2 = 6x * 3

→ 54 * 12 * 2 = 18x

dividing both sides by 18,

→ 3 * 12 * 2 = x

→ x = 72 persons.

Therefore,

Extra persons needed = 72 - 54 = 18 persons (Ans.)

Hence, 18 more persons need to complete the task in given time.
