apply fornula

Sn=n/2(2a+(n-1)d)

put n=9

so S9=9/2×(2a+(9-1)d)

=9/2×(2a+8d)

=9/2×2(a+4d)

=9/2×(2×20) from (1)

=9/2×40

=9×20

so S9=180

thus sum of its first 9 terms is 180
