the other equation is

3x+5y=20 let this equation be equation no 2

substituite the value of y from equation 1

3x-12-5x/3=20

9x-12-5x/3=20

4x-12=60

4x=72

x=72/4=14

x=14

let substitute the value the value of x in equation no 1

5x+3y=12

5(14)+3y=12

70+3y=12

3y=60

y=20

so the value of x+y=14+20=34
