To find  : $x : y$

Given : $5x -7 : 2x-3y :: 2 : 3$

Solution :

• To find ratio of $x : y$ we can write $5x -7 : 2x-3y :: 2 : 3$   as,  $\frac{5x-7y}{2x-3y}=\frac{2}{3}$
• Cross multiplying denominators of LHS and RHS .
• $3 ( 5x -7y ) = 2 ( 2x - 3y ) \\15x - 21y = 4x - 6y \\11x = 16y \\\frac{x}{y} = \frac{16}{11}$

Hence, value of $x : y$ is $16 : 11$ .
