Given:

  • (6,11) is the solution of linear equation x - ay = 17.

To find:

  • Value of a.

Solution:

  • Since (7, 11) is the solution of given linear equation.

Then,

  • x = 6
  • y = 11

Putting the values of x and y in the given equation

→ 6 - a(11) = 17

→ 6 - 11a = 17

→ -11a = 17 - 6

→ -11a = 11

→ a = -11/11

a = -1

We can see that, by putting values of x and y, we get value of a = -1.

Hence,

  • Value of a is -1.
