Given:

(i) 6 cats can catch 6 rats in 6 minutes.

To find:

(i) Number of cats needed to catch 10 rats in 10 minutes.

Solution:

It is given that,

6 cats can eat 6 rats in 6 minutes.

So, by common sense, 1 cat will  take much longer time to eat 6 rats.

So,

1 cat can eat 6 rats in (6*6) = 36 minutes.

Again, 1 cat will take lesser time to eat 1 rat than 6.

So,

1 cat can eat 1 rat in 36/6 = 6 minutes.

So,

1 cat can eat 10 rats in a much longer time than it woud have taken for 1 rat.

So, 1 cat can eat 10 rats in (6*10) = 60 minutes.

Again 6 cats can do the same faster.

So,

6 cats can eat 10 rats in (60/6) = 10 minutes. (As directed in the question)

So, 6 cats are needed to catch 10 rats in 10 minutes
