Given data:

6 persons working 8 hours a day earn Rs. 8400 per week.

To find:

The pay if 9 persons work for 6 hours a day.

Solution:

We know that

  • Work hours are directly proportional to earnings.
  • Number of persons is directly proportional to earnings.

So, the relation will be:

\frac{Workhours1 *Persons1}{Earn1}= \frac{Workhours2 *Persons2}{Earn2}

Here,

Workhours1=8, Persons1=6, Earn1=8400

Workhours2=6, Persons2=9, Earn2=Let it be 'X'.

Then,

\frac{8*6}{8400} = \frac{6*9}{X}

8 x 6 x X = 6 x 9 x 8400

X = 1050 x 9

X = 9450

Therefore, the earning of 9 persons working for 6 hours a day will be Rs. 9450.
