The value of x is 6.

  • Given that 64 is divided in the ratio 2:4:x.
  • Let the common multiple be k.
  • Therefore , the numbers are 2k , 4k and xk.

2k+4k+xk = 64

k = 64/(6+x).

  • Given that the smallest number is 32/3.
  • Therefore,

2k = \frac{32}{3}

2 Ă— \frac{64}{(6+x)} = \frac{32}{3}

\frac{4}{(6+x)} = \frac{1}{3}

12 = x+6

x = 6

  • The value of x is 6.
