Answer:

Given that

64x2 + y2 = 72 ====> Equation 1

xy = 2 ===> Equation 2

Take (a+b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2.a.b and use this formula

(4x + y/2)2 = (4x)2 + (y/2)2 + 2.4x.y/2

==> Cancel if possible

===> 16x2 + y2/4 + 4xy

===> 64x2 + y2 + 16xy / 4

===> 64x2 + y2 + 16xy / 4

From eqn 1 & 2

64x2 + y2 = 72 & xy = 2

===> 72 + 16 × 2 / 4

===> 72 + 32 / 4

===> 104 / 4

===> 26
