Answer:

let the no. be x.

then,5 times a no. = 5x

Now, according to question,

5x-7=8-2x

5x+2x=8+7

7x=15

x=15/7

x=8 hence, the required no. is 15/7 ..

The number.

Let the number be R.

According to the question:

\longmapsto\tt{5R\:-\:7\:=\:8\:+\:2R}

\longmapsto\tt{5R\:-\:2R\:=\:8+7}

\longmapsto\tt{3R\:=\:15}

\longmapsto\tt{R\:=\:\cancel{\frac{15}{3} }}

\longmapsto\tt{\pink{R\:=\:5}}

Thus,

The number is 5.
