If 7 is the mean of 6 observation, then what is the mean if each observation is decreased by 3

Given that.... 7 is the mean of 6 observations

then the sum of the observations = 7x6 = 42

Now 3 decresead by each observation

it means 3×6 18 decreased by their total = => 42-18 = 24

Now the mean = 24/6 = 4
