This is pretty simple..all u have to do is move terms across the “equal to” sign
=>3x=24
=>x=8

Answer :-

  • The value of x is 8.

Step-by-step explanation :-

 \sf Q) \: 7x - 15 = 4x + 9

Transposing 4x from RHS to LHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf \Rightarrow7x - 4x - 15 = 9

On subtracting the variables,

 \sf\Rightarrow3x - 15 = 9

Transposing 15 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf \Rightarrow3x = 9 + 15

Adding the numbers,

 \sf \Rightarrow3x = 24

Transposing 3 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf \Rightarrow x =  \dfrac{24}{3}

Dividing 24 by 3,

 \sf \Rightarrow x = 8.

Therefore, the value of x = 8.

Verification :-

To check our answer, let's put 8 in place of x and see whether LHS = RHS.

Let's proceed!

LHS

 \sf \Rightarrow7 \times 8 - 15

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying the numbers first,

 \sf \Rightarrow56 - 15

Subtracting the numbers,

 \sf \Rightarrow41.

RHS

 \sf \Rightarrow4 \times 8 + 9

Applying the BODMAS rule and multiplying the numbers first,

 \sf \Rightarrow32 + 9

Adding the numbers,

 \sf \Rightarrow41

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified!
