Answer:

Amount of steam released = 18g

Law of Chemical Combination:-

In a chemical reaction sum of masses of all reactant is equal to the sum of masses of product formed.Or in simple mass can neither be created nor be destroyed but can be converted from one to another.

i.e:- Sum of reactant= Sum of Product

Explanation:

  • Write the given reaction

         CH4  + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O

  • Sum of reactant=8g +32g=40g
  • Sum of product=22g+ Mass of steam (H2O)
  • According to law of chemical combination:- Sum of reactant= Sum of Product

Therefore,  40g=22g+ Mass of steam (H2O)

              Mass of steam (H2O)=40g-22g=18g
