Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In this question options are incorrect :

Correct options are :

(a) 8/17

(b) 17/7

(c) 1/17

(d) 7/17

SOLUTION :

The correct option is (d) : 7/17

Given : 8 tan x = 15

tan x = 15/8

In right angle ∆ ,

tan x =  perpendicular/base = 15/8

perpendicular = 15 , base = 8

Hypotenuse = √( perpendicular)² + (Base)²

[By Pythagoras theorem]

Hypotenuse = √ 15² + 8² = √225 + 64 = √289

Hypotenuse = √289 = 17

Hypotenuse = 17

sin x  = perpendicular/hypotenuse = 15/17

cos x = base/ hypotenuse =  8/17

The value of : sin x - cos x

= 15/17 - 8/17

= (15 - 8)/17

= 7/ 17

sin x - cos x  = 7/17

Hence, the value of  sin x - cos x is 7/17.
