If 8% VAT is included in the prices, find the original price of
a) A TV bought for Rs 13,500
b) A shampoo bottle bought for Rs 180

It is quite simple..see
(a) Let original price be X
8% VAT on Rs X
VAT=8% of Rs X
       Rs 0.08X
now,0.08X +X= 13500
     X=13500/1.08
       = Rs 12500
(b)similarly, here original price= 180/1.08
                                                  =Rs 166.7
