hey buddy here is your answer

8x+13y = 9   ............................................(i)

8x-13y = 7   .............................................(ii)

Adding (i) and (ii)

                  8x+13y+8x-13y=9+7

                =>16x=16

                =>x=1

Then 8x+13y=9

      =>8(1)+13y=9

     =>13y=1

     =>y=1/13

Hence x=1,y=1/13

Hope it helps

SOLUTION

GIVEN

\displaystyle \sf{   \frac{8x + 13y}{8x - 13y} =  \frac{9}{7}  }

TO DETERMINE

The value of x : y

EVALUATION

\displaystyle \sf{   \frac{8x + 13y}{8x - 13y} =  \frac{9}{7}  }

By addendo and Componendo rule we get

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies  \frac{8x + 13y +8x - 13y }{8x  +  13y - 8x  +  13y} =  \frac{9 + 7}{9 - 7}  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies  \frac{16x }{26y} =  \frac{16}{2}  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies  \frac{x }{26y} =  \frac{1}{2}  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies  \frac{x }{y} =  \frac{26}{2}  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies  \frac{x }{y} =  \frac{13}{1}  }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x : y = 13 :  1 }

FINAL ANSWER

\displaystyle \sf{  x : y = 13 :  1 }
