Question: If 9 is subtracted from two-thirds of a number, the result is 7. Find the number.

a.the number is 3

b.the number is 10.67

c.the number is 24

Solution: Let the number be "x".

Two-third of the number will be: 2x/3.

Subtracting 9 from it will give: 2x/3 - 9.

Acc to the question, 2x/3 - 9 = 7

or, 2x/3 = 16

or, x = 24. [Ans]

Therefore, the 3rd option c.the number is 24 is correct.
