SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

For A= { 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 } , determine the truth value of "3 ∈ A such that x - 4 = 3 "

CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

A proposition is a declarative sentence which is either true ( T ) or False ( F ) . Some authors use 1 and 0 for T and F respectively

All the declarative sentences to which it is possible to assign one and only of the two possible truth values are called statements

EVALUATION

Here the given set is

A= { 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 }

Now the statement is :

" 3 ∈ A such that x - 4 = 3 "

Here x - 4 = 3 gives x = 7

So the statement is FALSE

Hence the truth value of the statement " 3 ∈ A such that x - 4 = 3 " is F
