Answer:

Union ( ∪ )  is basically additional of two sets left behind common values of sets. In the given sets there is no common value except ø.

  • Union of A and B= A∪B={1 ,2, 3, 4, 5, 6}

Intersection ( ∩ ) means the common elements present in the sets. In the given sets, there is no common values so there intersection can be expressed as:

  • Intersection of A and B= A∩B=ø or {}.

Solution -

We have two sets A and B.

  • A = {1, 2, 3}
  • B = {4, 5, 6}

For finding A union B, we have to write all the elements that sets A and B contains.

⇢ A∪B = {1, 2, 3} ∪ {4, 5, 6}

⇢ A∪B = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}

For finding A intersection B, we have to write those elements which are common in both sets A and B.

As we can see there is no elements that is common in set A and set B. So we simply write

⇢ A∩B = {}, or

⇢ A∩B = Φ
