a=1-√2

or, 1/a=(1+√2)/(1-√2)(1+√2)

or, 1/a=(1+√2)/(1-2)

or, 1/a=-(1+√2)

∴, (a-1/a)³=[(1-√2)-{-(1+√2)}]³=(1-√2+1+√2)³=2³=8
