If a+1/a=17/4,find the value of a-1/a

a+1/a = 17/4
On squaring both sides, we get
a^2 + 1/a^2 + 2*a*1/a = 289/16
a^2 + 1/a^2 + 2 = 289/16
a^2 + 1/a^2 = (289-32)/16
a^2 + 1/a^2 = 257/16 -----------------(1)

Now,

(a-1/a)^2 = a^2 + 1/a^2 - 2* a*1/a
(a-1/a)^2 = (257/16) - 2
(a-1/a)^2 = (257-32) / 16
(a-1/a)^2 = 225/ 16
a-1/a = 15/4
