Hey friend..!! here's your answer
_________________________

we \: have \: = \frac{a + 1}{a} = \frac{17}{4}

Firstly , we need to find the value of a ,

 \frac{a + 1}{a} = \frac{17}{4} \\ \\ 4a + 4 = 17a \\ \\ 17a = 4 \\ \\ a = \frac{17}{4}

put \: the \: value \: of \: a \: in \: \frac{a - 1}{a} \\ \\ = \frac{ \frac{17}{4} - 1}{\frac{17}{4} } \\ \\ = \frac{ \frac{17 - 4}{4} }{ \frac{17}{4} } \\ \\ = \frac{ \frac{9}{4} }{ \frac{17}{4} } \\ \\ = \frac{9}{4} \times \frac{4}{17} \\ \\ = \frac{9}{17}
