if a = 1/a-5 then find a-1/a​

a = 1/a - 5

Subtract 1/a from the above equation,

=> a - 1/a = (1/a - 5) - 1/a

=> a - 1/a = (1/a - 1/a) - 5

=> a - 1/a = 0 - 5

=> a - 1/a = -5

Hence, a-1/a = -5
