given a=1+b

substitute a=1+b

-4(1+b) -2b=10

-4-4b-2b=10

-4-6b=10

-6b=10+4

-6b=14

b=-14/6

b=-7/3.

a=1+(-7/3)

a=1-(7/3)

a=(3-7)/3

a=-4/3.

THEREFORE a=-4/3, b=-7/3 IS YOUR ANSWER.

I hope you are satisfied by my answer.
