Answer:

(i)LHS=a−(−b)

=21−(−18)

=−[−21−18]=+39

RHS=21+18=39

∴LHS=RHS

(ii)LHS=a−(−b)

=75−(−10)

=−[−75−10]

=85

RHS=75+10=85

∴LHS=RHS

Given: a=1 /2 b=1/3

To verify a+b=b+a and a×b=b×a

Solution:

2. a +b=b+a

1/2+1/3=1/3+1/2

3+2/6=2+3/6

5/6=5/6

hence proved

1.a×b=b×a

1/2×1/3=1/3×1/2

1/6 =1/6

hence proved

conclusion: we can say that addition and multiplication obeys the commutative law
