There is a constant difference between any two successive terms of an AP.
So,b-17=10-a=17-10
b-17=7
b=24.

similarly,10-a=7
a=3.

we know,
a = t1
10 = t2
17 = t3
b = t4
to find the value of a and b, we have to find the value of d
we know,
d = t2-t1 = t3-t2 = t4-t3
d = t3-t2 = 17-10 = 7

a = t2-t1 = 7
10 - t1 = 7
- t1 = 7-10
- t1 = -3
t1 = 3

b = t4 - t3 = 7
t4 - 17 = 7
t4 = 7+17
t4 = 24

a = 3
b = 24
