Given that a,12,6,b are in continued proportion.

= > (a/12) = (12/16) = (16/b)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now,

= > (12/16) = (16/b)

= > 16 * 16 = 12b

= > 256 = 12b

= > b = 256/12

= > b = 64/3.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now,

= > a/12 = 12/16

= > 16a = 144

= > a = 144/16

= > a = 9.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, the value of a = 9 and b = 64/3.

Hope this helps!
