If a 12 volt battery is connected to the arrangement calculate (a) the total resistance and (b) the total current flow in the circuit.

again, find the total resistance and total current flow when a 20volt battery is connected to it.

a) 1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + 1/R4 + 1/R5 (all the resistors are connected in parallel connection)

= 1/10 + 1/40 + 1/30 + 1/20 + 1/60

= 12 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 2 / 120

= 27/120

= 9/40

So ,

R = 40/9 ohm

b) V = 12 V

R = 40/9 ohm

I = ?

I = V/R

= 12 ÷ 40/9

= 12 × 9/40

= 2.7 A
