If a^2+1/a^2 =7then find a-1/a

a + 1/a )^2 = 7^2 = 49

a^2 + 1/a^2 + 2(a)(1/a) = 49

a^2 + 1/a^2 + 2(1) = 49

a^2 + 1/a^2 = 49 - 2 = 47.

Answer is 47.
