Given : (a-3, a+4) is a solution the equation 2x - 3y = 5,

To find : value of a

Solution:

(a-3, a+4) is a solution the equation 2x - 3y = 5

Substitute x = a - 3  and y = a + 4 in the equation  2x - 3y = 5

2(a - 3) - 3(a + 4)  =  5

=> 2a - 6  - 3a  - 12 = 5

=> - a  - 18  = 5

=> -a  = 5 + 18

=> -a = 23

=> a = - 23

Value of a is - 23
