Given:

a = 3x² + 2y + 2 and b = 6x² - 8y + 1

To find:

The value of a + b and a - b.

Solution:

》a = 3x² + 2y + 2 ...(1)

》b = 6x² - 8y + 1 ...(2)

Add (1) and (2)

=> a + b = 9x² - 6y + 3

=> a + b = 3 (3x² - 2y + 1)

Subtract (2) from (1)

=> a - b = -3x² + 10y + 1

Therefore,

☆ The value of a + b is 3 (3x² - 2y + 1) and the value of  a - b is -3x² + 10y + 1.
