If A(5,-1), B(-3,-2) and C(-1,8) are the vertices of ΔABC, find the length of median through A and the coordinates of centroid.

median through A will lie on the side BC

let median lie on point M on BC = (-3-1)/2, (8-2)/2..........( since M is the midpoint of BC)

M= (-2,3)

length of median = \sqrt{(5+2)^2+(-1-3)^2}

=\sqrt{65} cm

coordinates of centroid = (5-3-1)/3 , (-1-2+8)/3

= (1/3,5/3)
