Step-by-step explanation:

a={√5+2}÷{√5-2}

=(√5+2)/(√5-2} )(√5+2}/{√5+2))

=((√5+2)^2 /((√5)^2-(-2} ^2)

=(5+4+2(√5)(2)) / 5-4

=9+4√5

similarly b={√5-2}÷{√5+2)= 9-4√5

a+b=9+4√5+9-4√5=18

a+b=(√5+2/√5-2) + (√5-2/√5+2)

make the denominator same by multiplying:

numerator and denominator of a with √5+2

numerator and denominator of b with √5-2

a+b= {(√5+2)^2/(√5-2)(√5+2)}+{(√5-2)^2/(√5+2)(√5-2)

=(√5+2)^2+(√5-2)^2/5-4

=5+4+4√4+5+4-4√5/1

=5+4+5+4

=18
