Solution:

a=5+2√6

b=\frac{1}{a} = \frac{1}{5+2√6}x\frac{5-2√6}{5-2√6}

\frac{5-2√6}{(5)^{2}-(2√6)^{2} }

\frac{5-2√6}{25-24}

⇒5-2√6

So a²+b²

     ⇒ (5+2√6)² + (5-2√6)²

     ⇒ 25+24+20√6 + 25+24-20√6

     ⇒ 49+49

     ⇒ 98
