If A(-5, 7), B(-4, -5), C(-1, -6) and D(4, 5) are the vertices of a quadrilateral, find the
area of the quadrilateral ABCD.

Let A(-4,-2) , B(-3,-5) ,C(3,-2) , D(2,3)

Join diagonal BD  

In triangle ABD

By using formula

1÷2(x1(y2-y3)+x2(y3-y1)+x3(y1-y2)

Put x1=-4 ,x2=-3, x3=2 and y1= -2 , y2=-5 ,y3=3

Then we get triangle ABD=11.5.

Similarly in triangle BCD by using formula put x1=-3,x2=3,x3=2 and y1 =-5,y2=-2, y3=3

We ge triangle BCD= 16.5

Area of quadrilateral ABCD=11.5+16.5

=28.0 means 28.
