Answer:

a=(√7-√5)/(√7+√5)

multiply the conjugate on the numerator and the denominator

a = { (√7-√5)(√7-√5)}/ {(√7-√5)(√7+√5) }

  = (√7- √5)^2 / ( 7 - 5)

  = (7 - 2 √ 35 + 5 ) / 2

  = (12 - 2√ 35 ) / 2

  = 6  - √ 35

a^2 = (6  - √ 35 )^2

      = 36 - 12 √ 35 + 35

      = 71 - 12 √ 35 ( answer )
