Hey friend, Harish here.

Here is your answer.
_____________________________________________________

a=8+3 \sqrt{7}

 \frac{1}{a} =  \frac{1}{8+3 \sqrt{7}}    (rationalize the denominator)

                  =  \frac{1}{8+3 \sqrt{7}} × \frac{8-3 \sqrt{7}}{8-3 \sqrt{7}}

                  = \frac{8-3 \sqrt{7}}{64 - 63}

∴   \frac{1}{a} =8-3 \sqrt{7}

So,

(a+ \frac{1}{a} )^{2} = (8+3 \sqrt{7} + 8 - 3 \sqrt{7})^{2}

                                = 16^{2}

                                = 256
