Step-by-step explanation:

  • given a =-8
  • given b =-7

a - b = -8 - ( -7 )

= -8 + 7

= -1

b -a = -7 -( -8 )

= -7 + 8

= 1

hence a - b is not equal to b- a

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us apply what has been given in the question

a = -8 (given)

b = -7 (given)

----------------------------------------

Statement 1:

a - b

=> -8 - ( - 7)

=> -8 + 7

=> -1

----------------------------------------

Statement 2:

b - a

=> -7 - ( - 8)

=> -7 + 8

=> +1

----------------------------------------

From Statement ( 1 ) & (2)

We get that a - b ≠ b - a.

Since,

-1 & +1 are unequal

----------------------------------------

Hence Proved.
